Duplicate Tabs in Firefox 3

09 May 2008

I've been a big fan of the Duplicate Tab add-on for Firefox 2. It lets you right click on a tab and duplicate it (with history) to a new tab. I've used it constantly, and was bummed to see that it has yet to be updated for Firefox 3 compatibility. That's the bad news. The good news is that the Firefox 3 beta has this functionality built-in! All you have to do is hold down the CTRL key and drag your tab to an open position in the tab bar. Very slick, and no more add-on required.

UPDATE 8/6/2008: I see the add-on has been updated for Firefox 3. It adds a couple of extra features over the CTRL key method, but I think I'm just going to stick with the default functionality for now. It does what I need without having the overhead of an add-on.
