Herb Carneal Passes Away
The radio voice of the Minnesota Twins, Herb Carneal, passed away today. He began calling play-by-play for the Twins in 1962, the same year I was born. I have many fond memories of sitting in my old bedroom, listening to Herb call the games, trying to visualize the action based on his words, the crack of the bat, and the sound of the crowd. Herb's call was one of those things you thought would be around forever, and it makes a person pause for reflection when you start to lose people and things that brought you great joy as a boy. Time marches on, but summers in Minnesota just won't be the same anymore.
