Weight Loss Update

As I mentioned in an earlier post, Plan For Losing Weight, I've been on a self-imposed diet and exercise program since February 15. I'm happy to report that, as of today, I've shed 84 pounds, which puts me at 221. I've dropped 8 inches off my waist, and I can finally buy clothes anywhere I like instead of being restricted to the big and tall section. Unfortunately, it's getting progressively harder to take off additional poundage, but I plan to stick with it for a while to see if my ultimate goal weight of 200 is attainable. If not, I would still be happy maintaining my present weight, although that will take some work and long-term lifestyle changes as well.

Being leaner has definitely helped this summer. I'm not constantly sweating like a pig anymore, and I've been better able to keep up with the kids on our camping trips and other outings.

Some free advice for anybody who'd like to follow in my footsteps: Before you get started, be mentally prepared and totally committed to sticking with a program for the long haul. A half-hearted effort will not get the job done. Also, don't beat yourself up if you occasionally eat too much and take a step backwards. If you stick to your guns, the pounds will come off eventually.
