Good riddance, Daunte

14 Mar 2006

In stark contrast to the emotional goodbye for Kirby, I would just like to wish Daunte Culpepper a hearty "good riddance". The Vikings traded him to Miami today for a second round pick. Daunte stunk up the field last year, suffered a horrible injury, and then had the balls to demand a raise during the offseason. For the past few weeks he's been sending emails to the local newspapers and TV stations, trying to negotiate through the media. The funny thing about this was the wording of the emails. They were all carefully crafted and well-written, so they were obvoiusly NOT penned by Daunte, who seems to be as dumb as a post (and incapable of reading NFL defenses). He should be much happier in Miami, where there will be ample opportunities for more boat cruises. See ya, Daunte, and don't let the door hit you in the ass on the way out.

Goodbye, Kirby

12 Mar 2006

Kirby PuckettIts been a week now since the passing of Kirby Puckett. It’s hard to put into words, but I've felt a profound sense of loss ever since word of his untimely death. Back when sports were a higher priority in my life, Kirby and the Twins took me to baseball heaven by winning world championships in 1987 and 1991. It was such a pleasure to see someone enjoy their work as much as Kirby. When he flashed that trademark smile, you couldn't help but feel a little warmth in your soul. One look at him and you just had the sense that everything was going to be OK. I don't think we’ll ever see the likes of him again. Goodbye Kirby, and thanks for the memories.
